Weed Science Field Day at Rosemount ROC

July 21, 2025

On July 10, 2025, farmers, industry professionals, and researchers gathered recently at the Rosemount Research and Outreach Center for a field day led by Dr. Debalin Sarangi, Assistant Professor and Extension Weed Scientist at the University of Minnesota. The event spotlighted ongoing research in weed management with hands-on presentations from Sarangi’s graduate students and staff.

The field day offered attendees a close-up look at various field trials examining weed control methods, herbicide resistance, and sustainable cropping practices. Visitors toured experimental plots and heard directly from students and staff about the goals, methods, and early results of their work. This event is an important opportunity to connect University research with real-world agricultural challenges.

Attendees engaged in discussions about how academic research can be translated into practical solutions for the field. The event also allowed for networking among University researchers, state agents, and industry professionals.

The Rosemount Research and Outreach Center is one of the University of Minnesota’s key agricultural sites by supporting cutting-edge agronomic research through programs like Dr. Sarangi’s.
