Building on the success of last year's event, the Rosemount Research and Outreach Center (Rosemount ROC), in partnership with University of Minnesota Extension, once again welcomed local 4-H youth for a day of hands-on agricultural learning. The second annual field day drew an even larger group of participants eager to explore the science and technology behind modern agriculture.
Throughout the day, youth rotated through interactive learning stations led by University of Minnesota Extension educators, researchers, and RROC staff. Participants explored insect identification, weed identification, crop growth stages, spray nozzles and suction traps, Kernza, the AgCentric program, and the RROC weather station. Each station gave students the opportunity to ask questions, engage with agricultural professionals, and discover how research supports farming across Minnesota.
The continued partnership between the Rosemount ROC and University of Minnesota Extension creates meaningful opportunities to connect young people with agricultural science in a real-world research setting. By combining Extension's educational expertise with the RROC's active research programs and facilities, the annual field day helps inspire curiosity, build agricultural knowledge, and introduce youth to the many career paths within agriculture and natural resources.
As the event continues to grow, it reflects a shared commitment to cultivating the next generation of agricultural leaders through hands-on learning and community engagement.
