On July 14, 2026, farmers, industry professionals, and researchers gathered at the Rosemount Research and Outreach Center for a field day led by Dr. Debalin Sarangi, Assistant Professor and Extension Weed Scientist at the University of Minnesota. The annual event continues to serve as a valuable opportunity to showcase the latest University of Minnesota research while encouraging conversations about the future of weed management.
Throughout the day, attendees visited research plots featuring studies on herbicide programs, weed control strategies, and integrated management practices. Graduate students and research staff led discussions at each stop, explaining their projects, sharing preliminary findings, and answering questions from participants about the practical applications of their work.
The field day emphasized the importance of connecting research with on-farm decision-making. By bringing together researchers and members of the agricultural community, the event fostered collaboration, encouraged the exchange of ideas, and highlighted how ongoing research at the RROC is helping address the evolving challenges facing Minnesota crop production.
