Learn about research that's being conducted in crop diseases and corn rootworm management at the Rosemount Research and Outreach Center!
Dr. Dean Malvick, U of MN Extension plant pathologist, will lead demonstrations and discussions about the soybean diseases sudden death syndrome (SDS) and frogeye leaf spot, and on the corn disease tar spot in the crop diseases session. You will see a SDS field study that includes different seed treatments and different levels of varietal resistance to determine how they influence development of SDS.
Dr. Ken Ostlie, Extension entomologist, will give an update about the performance of corn rootworm management options under drought conditions. You will see demonstration plots of soil insecticides and transgenic traits, including current available pyramids of Bt traits and roots of the newest available traits package, SmartStax Pro, that expresses RNAi.
Registration will occur from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., with the field day following from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A light lunch will be served after the tour.
There is no cost to attend the field day and lunch is included.
